THE WORD FOR THE MOMENT

THE WORD FOR THE MOMENT

DIVINE CAUTION TO ALL CHRISTIANS

SCRIPTURE READING: Philippians 3vs1-3

Key Verse: Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. (Philippians 3vs2)

The scripture makes it clear to every born-again believer that whoever thinks he stands should take heed lest he falls (1 Corinthians 10vs12). This is because, the fact that we are born-again does not mean the battle is over; does not mean once saved, ever saved. Our daily battle as Christians is to earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude vs3). To contend simply means, "to fight". While fighting, there must be accurate watchfulness on the areas our opponents may likely take advantage of. This is what apostle Paul was trying to write to the Christians in Philippi. He was reminding them to be watchful and careful of some sets of people whose mission is to make them lose their salvation.

Let's carefully examine Philippians 3vs1b "To write the same thing to you, to me is not grievous..." This tells us that there is always a need for repetition or remembrance of what we have been taught from the word of God. When there is no repetition or remembrance, there is a tendency for us to forget what we have heard or been taught.

"Beware of dogs..." That is, beware of sexual immortalities. Beware of boyfriend and girlfriend relationship that makes you commit fornications. Beware of seducers. Mind you, these people are now found in the church of God. Some may even hold great department in the church. Beware!
"Beware of evil workers, beware of concision." This tells us, that there are some people, all they are after is to orchestrate evil. These people engage in slandering and backbiting. They make sure you get angry. They frustrate people to the point of causing them to offend God. We are told to be very careful of these people. When we are about entering someone's compound and we see an inscription on the wall saying "Beware of Dogs", this means there is a dog in the compound; we must not run when we see it. We are not in the house because of the dog so we face exactly what we are there to do not minding the bark of the dog. In like manner, as we are in this Christian race to heaven, we will meet dogs barking at us, scaring us, distracting us, but all we need to do is to at all times look unto Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12vs2).

NOTE: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:1b4-18
